The New Rugged Laptop from Dell

Dell, Inc, this week has announced its first multitouch rugged laptop The Latitude XT2 XFR. The rugged laptop is designed to meet the unique and demanding needs of customers in the military, police, border patrol, field service organizations, factory fulfillment and first responders. The Latitude XT2 XFR is independently tested to meet military (MIL-STD-810F) and IP54 (Ingress Protection) standards. Its means that resistant to rain, dust, dirt, vibration, extreme temperatures and drops from up to 3 feet.
“It offers single hand manipulation of the laptop in the field and it’s very exciting from that perspective,” Sean Berg, Dell’s sales director for defense and public security said. “Customers are wanting this type of interaction with their computers - anything that can simplify the interaction to do their role is important.”

Sony Vaio AC Adapter Recalls

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in October 29, 2009 announced a voluntary recall of the Sony AC adapter from Vaio laptop product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Sony said it has received four reports of adapters short-circuiting, with none of those incidents occurring in the U.S. No injuries have been reported, Sony said.
The Sony AC adapter to recall is about 69,000 pieces, because their insulation inside the AC adapter can fail over time, posing an electrical shock hazard to consumers. Those Sony AC adapters were manufactured in China by Sony Electronics Inc. of San Diego.

BlackBerry Storm 2 Releases in October 28

Research In Motion (RIM) recently release statement that they would release new Blackberry cell phone Storm 2. The Blackberry cell phone Storm 2 is prepared to launch in Wednesday, October 28 2009.
Like previous model, the BlackBerry cell phone Storm 2 will feature a touch screen. The display features a 3.25-inch capacitive touch screen display (480×360 pixels resolution), which provides electronic feedback instead of the “clickable” screen found on the previous model. RIM hopes to fix the mistakes from previous model which was at the center of many customer complaints. It also features multi-touch support, allowing users to click two keys (like shift plus a letter) on the virtual keyboard at the same time. Read more... Kindle Reader Coming for Apple Mac

Since Microsoft announced the Windows 7 launch last week, Amazon also announced to release a Kindle reader for that operating system. Amazon spokesperson later confirmed to Fast Company that Amazon also intends to release software for Mac OS X too.
As the Kindle platform has settled, Amazon has intended to take it beyond its digital book reader hardware and onto other devices. In March, the company has launched its Kindle reader for the iPhone and iPod touch on the App Store. The software allows users to access their content and sync what page they were last on to a number of devices.

The Nook to Beat The Kindle

Barnes & Noble Inc., last week annouced to release the new digital book reader the Nook. B & N digital book reader Nook will be available in more than 700 retail stores at the end of November or early December 2009.
The Nook digital book reader, which will sell for $259, will offer the same functionality as the Amazon Kindle 2, a huge library of titles and a wireless downloads. The Nook digital book reader is prepared to beat Amazon’s Kindle with some extra features attached.
