In 1935, the company registered “Canon” as trademark, coincides with The Hansa Canon, a 35 mm focal-plane-shutter camera introduced. And in 1937 Precision Optical Industry, Co., Ltd. is founded.
In 1947, the company becomes Canon Camera Co., Inc. And in 1955 Canon’s New York branch office is opened.
Today Canon U.S.A., Inc has become one of a top patent holder of technology, “Top 100 Brands” list in 2008 of BusinessWeek magazine and number seven in the computer industry on Fortune Magazine’s World’s Most Admired Companies 2008 list.
