In the United States, every service provider offers a different selection of technologies and services. Service provider operate over two different networks: Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM). Each technology transmits voice and data in different ways, which makes them incompatible. So you can’t take a CDMA phone and use it on GSM or vice versa.
In the United States, AT&T and T-Mobile use GSM while Sprint, Verizon, and smaller carriers such as U.S. Cellular and MetroPCS use CDMA. Though Nextel is part of Sprint, Nextel-branded phones use a third technology called iDEN, or Integrated Digital Enhanced Network.
If you’ll be making calls mostly in the United States, CDMA coverage is very strong particularly in rural areas. GSM service has a larger global scale, like it’s the standard in Europe. GSM phones use the convenient SIM cards, which you allow to switch phones more easily. Also, when taken on a global scale, GSM users will find a wider selection of handsets.

Types of Cell Phone

Smart phones divides into two categories, first categorie is bussiness focused ability that you can create and edit spreadsheets and documents, and they usually come with Microsoft Outlook, Palm Desktop, or other personal information management software for your PC. Other categorie is personal use focused ability. They’re fine for playing music and other multimedia, reading e-mail messages, and opening Office-type attachments, but they don’t allow you to create or edit documents and spreadsheets.
