Choosing a Desk for Computer

Choosing a desk for your computer is one of important thing factor to support your body during working in front of the computer. It is important to find computer desk furniture that won’t harm you. The point is do not using a desk for computer that puts you in an unnatural position or in other word find an ergonomically computer desk set. For example a desk that sets your keyboard too high can cause an injury to your wrist that can develop into Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in the future.

According to US Department of Labor, Occupational Health and Safety Administration, an Ergonomics desk for computer design is “A well-designed and appropriately-adjusted desk will provide adequate clearance for your legs, allow proper placement of computer components and accessories, and minimize awkward postures and exertions.”

At least there are three kinds of shape of desk for computer:

Corner computer desk

corner desk computerThis desk is designed to fit into a corner and become an ideal solution for the home office that is part of another room or for one that is relegated to a small space. It is suitable if you just using you computer to browsing internet and do not need using more space for papers, binders or any other office stationery. A corner computer desk also has the added benefit of being ergonomic, because everything you need tends to be arranged within arm’s reach.

L-shape computer desk

L shaped desk computerThis computer desk is design for clearly separate working area and with extra work surface enables you to put your papers and any other office stationery.  One big advantage of L-shape computer desk is that allow the user to position the desk in a manner that is not only convenient, but also fits into the scheme of the room’s decor. The computer desk optimizes floor, work space and an elegant feel, because it conveniently fits into a corner of your room.

U-shape computer desk

U shaped desk computerThis computer desk is made of three basic components; a credenza flanked by two desks on either side, which is practical if you need lots of storage space and you need to keep lots of books, papers etc within easy reach of your computer. This computer desk tends to take up a lot of floor space but it can still be used in small rooms depending on the dimensions of the unit chosen.

Some U-shape desks are built so that one or two guests can sit at the desk. If you routinely have clients in your office, this can be a great solution if the office is too small.
