The BMW’s Style HP Computer
By Bram P

Hewlett-Packard (HP) a leading company in computer technology in late March 2009 has released the new HP computer Workstation flagship. The design is the work of BMW Group Designworks USA, who compare the new workstation cases to the new BMW Z4 roadster. The HP computer Z800, Z600 and Z400 Workstation series are reinvention of the product category from the core outward that offers customers unprecedented performance, value and serviceability in a sleek new design, self-checking power supply and and take advantage of the new Intel® Xeon® processor.
“The new Z line marks the first HP workstations to be totally serviceable with your fingers - from the power supply to the motherboard,” said Jim Zafarana, vice president and general manager, Workstations, HP. “Early studies show that an HP Z Workstation may pay for itself in a surprisingly short period with its performance and productivity gains.”
HP Z800
This HP computer is HP’s most powerful and expandable workstation for users working with applications such as 3-D animation, broadcast video and all digital imaging. The Z800 HP computer has an all-new brushed aluminum industrial design with the modular internal design.
The Z800 HP computer has a powerful and impressive machine with a liquid-cooling option.. Packing a couple of the latest Intel quad-core Nehalem Xeon W5580 3.2GHz configuration, assisted by Dual Intel® 5520 chipset, with six DDR3 1333 MHz ECC Unbuffered or Registered DIMMs slots offered up to 192GB RAM. The impressive Nvidia Quadro FX 5800 is available with its 4GB RAM, while an integrated, RAID 10 eight-channel SAS controller is on board, with an option to update to an LSI 8888 eight-port SAS controller, which supports hardware RAID 5.
The Z800 HP computer has a new HP-exclusive WattSaver feature that manages power in the “off” state at less than one watt and option for an 89 percent efficient power supply - reducing both overall energy usage and the amount of waste heat released. The HP computer Z line is already ENERGY STAR® 5.0 qualified, ahead of the ENERGY STAR scheduled deadline of July.
HP has put a lot of effort into making a self-diagnosing computer. For example, if a memory module fails, the computer can tell you which socket’s module has gone bad. If the computer won’t power on, there’s a green LED on the power supply that you can check - just remove the power supply from the machine and plug in the power supply. If the LED doesn’t light up, you know that it’s the power supply that is your problem component.
