What kind of laptop is right for me ?

Before you deciding to buy a laptop, you will need to find out how you will want to use your machine. Find out what kind of user profile are you with the following guide.

Home and Office User

This profile usually use their laptops as one of home entertainment appliances. The connectivity with other multimedia appliances like TV and home theatre is an important element.

The processor with Intel Core Duo or Dual-core AMD Turion will be  adequate in most circumstances but Intel  Core 2 Duo will give you better performance .The memory should at least 2 GB of RAM .Your laptop should has at least 500 GB hard drive, to store  hundreds of movies and thousands of music MP3 files. If you want to use laptop as main screen, your laptop should at least has 256 MB video card from ATI or NVIDIA.

Traveler User

This profile usually is a high mobility person so they are using their laptops where ever they are.This profile required small and light dimension of laptop. Notebooks come in a few different size categories and the smallest and usually between 12″ and 13″ in size and very light weight

Since size and weight are the two most critical factors in choosing a laptop, performance and features are not obligate.The smallest and lightest notebooks, ultraportables, weight less than four pounds and are no thicker than a spiral-bound notebook.

The processor with Intel Core Duo or Core Solo and AMD Turion 64 X2 will be adequate to run the laptop. The memory at least 1GB of RAM.  Also equipped with port replicator for desk and wire and wireless networking. The most important thing this laptop also has extended battery .

Student User

As a student you need a laptop to do all basic office tasks and access the internet. As you might be carrying it with you at various classes and seminars, it’s also important that it size and weight suited for your activity.

This requirement seems like for traveler user but perhaps the price tag also the important considerable factor. You can consider about netbook. Netbooks with  9″ or 10″ display have the advantage of being both small and affordable, but a disadvantage is their less  performance than laptop. If you want the best price and performance ratio, you should look to the mainstream segment with sizes around 15 inches.

The processor with Intel Core Duo or Core Solo and AMD Turion 64 X2 will be adequate to run the laptop. The memory at least 1GB of RAM. Also equipped with Wired and wireless networking for network-equipped classrooms and dorm rooms port. The hard drive at least 250 GB to store those MP3s.

Gamer and Multimedia

This profile need much more powerful laptop to run their high requirement video graphics and multitasking program like editing video.

The first thing is video graphics, since laptop has not much room for cooling so you have to use at least 256 MB or 512 MB advanced video graphics card from NVIDIA or ATI GPU. A 15.4-inch display or larger, its recommended 17-inch or larger. The processeor should at least AMD Turion 64 X2, Intel Core 2 Duo, or Intel Core 2 Extreme with at least 2GB RAM preferably DDR3. Also equipped with multimedia connectors, such as S-Video, HDMI, FireWire, S/PDIF.
