“Lost & Found” Service for Lenovo Laptops

Have you ever lose you laptop? Have you found found a laptop in a taxi or open public area and you don’t know what should do?
According to a study from Ponemon Institute, theft or loss laptops can be cost of around $50,000 due to data lost, legal, productivity and other costs.
Lenovo laptops has the answer to solve that problem.
Together with Absolute Software, a Canada base software company, Lenovo laptops offering a new service called “Lost & Found”. This service not only just for protection to Lenovo laptops but also enable people to return it to their rightful owners.
The Lost & Found software is a package of Absolute’s Computrace that enables people to track their laptops. The Absolute claims the recovery time of a stolen laptop is 65 minutes. Lenovo is offering the protection at no additional charge beginning this month.
“Lenovo Lost & Found gives the Good Samaritans who find lost Lenovo laptops a free and simple way to return a ThinkPad laptop to its rightful owner,” said Peter Schrady, vice president and general manager of Software, Peripherals and Enterprise Products for Lenovo. “In an incredibly fast-paced, mobile work environment accidents happen, and this service can provide added peace of mind for owners who misplace their laptops. At the same time, Lenovo makes it easy for people to do the right thing”. Here is how to Lost & Found system work, according to Absolute
- When the laptop is lost, the owner can flag it with Absolute to lock the laptop if turned on. If it is turned on, the monitor screen display a message indicating the laptop is lost and will provide a toll-free number to return the laptop.
- Alternatively, the finder of Lenovo laptops can call to the toll-free number for Lenovo that can be found on sticker on the outside of the Lenovo laptops.
- Lenovo receives the call, confirms the registration of the laptop for Lost & Found and sends a pre-paid shipping box to the finder.
- The finder sends the Lenovo laptop to Lenovo
- Lenovo ships the laptop to the owner
- The owner can unlocks their Lenovo laptops through Absolute
You can avoid more costs of lost by protecting your valuable laptop in appropriate way.
