By Bram P
Panasonic Corporation of North America (PNA), a subsidiary of Osaka, Japan-based Panasonic Corporation has released 2009 HDTVs Viera series. One of the interesting models is Plasma 50 inch Viera TC-P50G10. This Plasma 50 mentioned will be taking over the Pioneer Elite Kuro PRO-111FD as the best flat-panel HDTVs ever. The Panasonic Viera TC-P50G10 has playing as a worthy substitute with half price.
Body design
The Viera Plasma 50 is is the thinnest framed plasma with its thinner frame around the edge of the screen with glossy black predominates and interrupted by a silver strip along the bottom, a silver wash that fades into black after about a half-inch. The stand is new look circular stand covered the G10 series speakers but unfortunately, it doesn’t swivel.
The rear panel houses two HDMI inputs, two component video inputs and one combo, S-video/composite video input, all with accompanying L/R audio inputs. A left side indentation houses an SD card slot (for viewing photos or AVCHD movies made on a camcorder), a composite video input with L/R audio and a 15 pin sub-D PC input that accommodates a variety of computer resolutions.
The new remote control adds trio keys of Viera Link (HDMI-CEC command and control of Panasonic sources such as a Blu-ray player), VieraCast (internet widgets and downloads), and Viera Tools above the central cursor control. Each button provides direct access to functions most users won’t access as frequently as the Menu key. The remote cannot control other devices via infrared (IR) commands, but it does allow for some control of compatible HDMI devices connected to the TV via Viera Link (aka HDMI-CEC).
Key Features
The Viera Plasma 50 TC-P50G10 claims using the new 12th generations Panasonic’s panel display generations of plasma panel named NeoPDP (plasma display panel). Utilizing new phosphors and gas mixtures along with 600 Hz sub-fields, it is achieves lower power consumption, far higher light output capabilities and full motion resolution.
When using cinema mode, 600Hz technology allows you view superb full-HD motion and still images with 1,080 lines of resolution. For even greater clarity with motion images, Panasonic uses its own unique image-analysis technology.
AR filter is an advanced filter keeps images sharp, with minimal glare. The filter will reducing reflections from external light dramatically, it helps to produce clear images.
The new Viera Plasma 50 TC-P50G10 models incorporate an improved panel production process and the new Real Black Drive system produce over 2,000,000:1 High Contrast (Native 40,000:1).
Performance
With THX Standard equipped generally makes the picture quality and color accuracy of this Plasma 50 TC-P50G10 was excellent, only less-accurate green color decoding and secondary colors of magenta and cyan. The black performance weren’t disappointed. Although Pioneer Elite Kuro depth of black is just a bit deeper but the Plasma 50 TC-P50G10 got closer. In dark scenes, shadows and black areas looked deeper and more realistic. However engaging THX caused slight greenish/yellowish cast.
Using a 100 IRE window pattern the Viera Plasma 50 TC-P50G10 measured a very bright and comfortable 31 ft. lamberts in the THX mode with the user controls (including contrast) optimized (source: Hdguru.com)
