Gadgets with Solar Power System

Global climate change has been drive people to get more concern about renewable energy. They try to find alternative renewable energy resource to mix with fossil fuel. One of the most valuable alternatives is solar power system energy.

Here are some upcoming gadgets using solar power system as main power resources:

Sharp’s Solar-Powered LCD TV

sharp-solar-powered-tvThe LCD TV is powered by triple junction thin-film solar cells module that just as big as the LCD screen. Sharp claims the power consumption is just one-fourth of the power that a CRT TV.

It will use a prototype solar panel technology which a single panel can provide sufficient energy to watch 4.5 hours of TV per day.

Sharp’s Solar-Powered Phone

sharp-solar-power-phoneSharp and Japanese network KDDI, is ready to release the world’s first cell phone with solar power system this summer. It will use a special solar panel to capture solar energy. They claim 10 minutes in the sun will give you about a minute of talk time, or two full hours of standby power.

There are 2 models, SH002 which operated by KDDI and 936SH which operated by Softbank. Unfortunately, the phones are only being released in Japan thus far, and there’s no word yet when to release in the US.

LG’s Solar-Powered E-Reader

lg-solar-e-readerLG’s has been developed E-Reader with solar power system, although it’s still just a prototype but it does to be on the right track.  The solar power system will be of a thin film 10 x 10 cm solar cell which specially designed for the 6 inch display E-Reader. The solar power system will gives you a day of reading from roughly about 4-5 hours of sunlight. The E-reader solar panel that LG is developing should go commercial in 2012.

LG’s Solar-Powered Bluetooth Speakerphone

bluetooth-speakerphoneIf your car does not integrated with Bluetooth directly, then the LG HFB-500 will enable you to enjoy it. The HFB-500 is a Bluetooth loudspeaker with a twist. Not like others Bluetooth speakerphone, the LG HFB-500 also features a built-in solar panel which enables you to charge the battery from sun light and a cigarette lighter power cable. The meaning is that the device doubles-up as a portable charger, which is handy.

The Gyy Notebook with Solar Power System

iunika-gyy-solar-netbookSpanish company iUnika has released a breakthrough in the world of notebook with their new released Gyy solar powered notebook. Surely it will be not a gaming notebook, as it runs on a 400 Mhz MIPS processor and has only 128MB of RAM with Linux. On the good side though, it will be 64GB solid-state storage, Ethernet, three USB ports and Wi-Fi ability. The display is only an 800-by-480 resolution on the 8-inch screen.

The solar panel which mounted on the lid charges the Gyy’s internal battery. The Gyy notebook has released to the store in July and only available in Europe in around 170 Euro price tag.
