HP and Compaq Laptops Battery Recall

Hewlett Packard (HP) Company on May 14 2009 has announced a worldwide voluntary recall and replacement program for battery packs. The replacement only affected for certain models of HP and Compaq laptops. All customers who are affected on this program will be eligible to receive a replacement battery pack for each verified and recalled battery pack at no cost.

According to The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) these HP & Compaq laptops models can overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers. CPSC are aware of two reports of batteries occurred and resulting in flames/fire that caused minor property damage. No injuries have been reported. HP and the battery cell manufacturer believe that certain battery packs shipped in HP and Compaq laptops products manufactured between August 2007 and January 2008 and were sold during the period of August 2007 through March 2008.  Read more...
